Every day is a series of wins and losses. In momming, in wife-ing, in business-ing, in life-ing. Some days, I seriously win at business-ing and suck at momming. And vice versa. Today, I started off the day with a major crunchy fail. I forgot my reusable shopping bags when going on our weekly grocery shopping adventure.
Perhaps in an effort to make up for plasticizing the entire world in a single shopping trip, I came home and got crunchy. Truth be told, the crunchy things I’m about to tell you about had their beginnings in *last* week’s grocery run, I just never got around to doing them. Because LIFE. But I seriously made up for it today! Yay me!
First, I made a smoothie. I used my crappy $20 blender I picked up last week at the grocery store (a replacement for the nice Cuisinart one we got for our wedding that my eldest daughter broke last year), and the following ingredients:
– cup of water
– spoonful of coconut oil
– a handful of strawberries
– two slices of watermelon
– the juice of one lemon
– two handfuls of kale
– a few blackberries
– a tablespoon of maple syrup
I blended it all up, made 5 Popsicles (would have been six but Deckers lost one somewhere in the house and I can’t find it anywhere!!!), then drank the rest with my lunch.
My next kale-ful experiment was kale chips! Carebear has been *begging* me to make these ever since we took her to Eats on 8th for her birthday last year and I finally did it because, well, I had a bagful of kale and a friend on FB just did it yesterday and if she can do it, I can do it!!

Like, I think I seriously made her day and it was SO EASY. So, today I initially was losing at being crunchy. But now, I think we’ll put today in the winning like. Because KALE. Maybe I’ll also go hug a tree to really tip the scales. Wellllll…. maybe not.
