What’s the haps

So lately I have chosen to attempt napping rather than to attempt blogging. Also I’ve been going to bed at 8:30, as soon as we tuck the girls in. This is what the first trimester of pregnancy is like, people. It’s a lovely blend of nausea and exhaustion, uncontrollable flatulence and belching, food aversions and scent aversions.  When’s the last time you changed a grody toddler poopy diaper while experiencing morning sickness and an intense increase in your ability to smell alllll the smells? It’s not pleasant.

I’ve cooked some delicious food lately, and even taken pictures and formed thoughts of how to blog about it in my head, but then I never actually sit down and blog about it because I’m either too tired to do it or the thought of that food that was so delicious earlier makes me want to vomit. It’s kind of a bummer, but totally worth it. Plus, it’s really only approximately 6 weeks of my life, give or take, and then you won’t be able to stop me from posting the crap outta everything. 😉

Drunken Noodles

French Bread, and a variation (cinnamon raisin!)

Crockpot Black Beans

Calzones

I think I may have turned the corner because, guess what? It’s currently naptime and I’m choosing to write something rather than try to nap while the baby naps. It’s possible that the fact that the neighbors’ have people chipping huge piles of wood through a mega-wood chipper right in front of my house factored into this decision. As we all know, if you lie down and can’t actually sleep due to noise or what have you, it’s just frustrating and you end up grumpier than you started. My other option was to take the dog for a nice long walk. But then I was like… no.

And now, I give you the haps around my house.

1. I got a new planner today! This is very exciting because it means that I can start planning our next school year soon. It took waaaaaay too long to locate the right planner in our local Office Depot because they had stuck it in a special spot that was not even an end cap to all the other calendars. I was about to have to get a calendar that I did not even like. But then I found the exact one that I needed! Angels sang out in chorus.

It’s so pretty! 🙂

2. The girls are finishing their school year! We finished up this year’s core curriculum over a month ago, but we were still finishing up this semester’s math. Mickey finished hers today, and Carebear will be all done tomorrow. Then I can slap a grade on their math books, and shove them in my storage bin. You know, in case the “authorities” ever come around asking what we do all day…

3. It was actually warm enough today that I bought a watermelon at the grocery store and we ate it out in the sunshine and then played in the sprinkler.  Then the big girls filled a bunch of water balloons and had a fabulous time lobbing them at one another.

She liked it better on LOW 😉

4. I am getting my Chick-fil-a fix at the end of May! Gigi is coming to visit and Josh got tickets to a major league baseball game and would you believe it? There’s a Chick-fil-a on the way there! I. Am. So. Excited. This baby will get to experience the best chicken sandwich in the whole wide world while in utero. I was worried it wouldn’t happen. Dreams do come true. (Name that Disney princess.)

5. I am making a list of things about our new state that are not the same as Texas. I’m also taking pictures of how horribly people park on our cul-de-sac. Having never lived on a cul-de-sac, I did not know what an epidemic bad cul-de-sac parking was. Stay tuned.

That’s all for now. I guess I still have time for that walk. Decisions, decisions…
