Things I miss about Texas

I miss a lot of things about Texas. Moving clear across the country is no joke, people. I miss my friends, I miss having family nearby (especially my finally retired mother-in-law… I did not get to take full advantage of that before we moved… and I had waited years for her to retire!), and I miss the familiarity of a place that I had called home for over 16 years. But do you know what I miss the very most at this very moment? CHICK-FIL-A.

Do you know how far away the nearest Chick-fil-a is from where we currently live? I checked. It’s 145 miles. I used to live that many SECONDS from a Chick-fil-a. Well, maybe not exactly seconds, but it was waaaaaaaaay closer. Close enough that I could swing by whenever and get my #2 combo, no cheese, with waffle fries and a coke. Close enough that it was the go-to place after a successful trip to Target. Never did I think I would have to go FOUR MONTHS without Chick-fil-a, and that, my dear readers, is how long is has been. And counting.

So, as I mourn the distance between me and the adorable cows who hock delicious chicken sandwiches, I leave you with this: Tim Hawkins’ ode to Chick-fil-a. It’s always worth a watch, no matter how many times I’ve seen it.  And next time you are enjoying something delicious from Chick-fil-a, pray for me.
